- December 24, 2020As of now, MeowApps has cornered the market on this. I just bought a license but would love to have this all-in-one!
- December 10, 2020It would be great if this feature also showed in which posts/pages/etc a media file is used. That would be a huge help to replace old images, update captions, etc.
- October 27, 2020Great idea, it would have to be very reliable though.
- October 20, 2020will be great idea

Download All Media
A button to zip all media files and download them. Would be a neat feature for a media folder plugin.Leave a comment:
3 Comments:
- December 29, 2020It would also be great if you could sort your downloads category wise. E.g. i only want to download all media uploads from category A and leave the others untouched! ;-)
- November 4, 2020Agreed. Must allow download of a folders contents. Not for migrating sites, just for managing existing media. I have many existing PDFs and Jpegs in a folder. Ideally want to download them to easily resize and rename before uploading again. Much easier than trying to do it all on the site.
- August 30, 2020Export & Import option with checkboxes as well, so we could create "Folder structure templates" to our "Template" WP site and export it to the client site. You need to create the folders structure only once and repeat exporting & importing.

Image Thumbnails on Hover
The images in the Media use square-cropped thumbs. It would be handy to see the whole image when hovered over. WP Media Folder (which I plan to replace with your plugin) has this feature, and I miss it.Leave a comment:

- September 24, 2020Oh, and the name of the file on this hover would be useful as well.
- September 15, 2020Yes it would be good
- September 2, 2020Also regenerate thumbnails please, personally I dont want to install separate plugin for that
- June 15, 2020Has my vote. Maybe a native presentation of the whole images could be an alternative option.

Display List of Files in a Category
A shortcode from which we can display the list of files (PDF, DOCX, etc.) with an option to enable a downloadable link or button. List should automatically update whenever files are added/removed from that category.Leave a comment:

- January 10, 2021I've been trying to find a native plugin that can list my media files (and not just display images) and this plugin was one of the top contender to solve my use-case. But unfortenately this feature is not available. I've tried a few other plugins that allows me to list files but they doesn't use files from the standard media library and instead creates a whole seperate system. If a file list feature can be added I would buy this plugin immediately since it is so slick in all other ways. Great work! What I would want is a "file explorer" like listing where a minimum of title/filename, date, size is shown in sortable colums. Subfolders should be possible to list. Each file entry should be possible to download by clicking either the row or a dedicated button.
- October 9, 2020Yes it would be almost a necessity for the list of files to be able to be ordered by the date assigned to the file. I assume that somehow that date field would also need to be added OR maybe files can be reordered manually in the backend? Or both? Just suggestions. In my example, I'd need the most recent file first, but this wouldn't be when the file was uploaded, there would have to be some sort of manual intervention.
- October 9, 2020This is exactly the reason I came to this roadmap, hoping someone had suggested this feature. A simple vertical list would be great where the title field of the file is used alongside a download button, or even the title linked. This would need to be up to accessibility standards, so I guess it would be more meaningful to screenreaders to have the file title linked to the download, rather than a just a download button. The current FILE Guternburg block has the title linked and has a download button. As I said there's already a Guternburg block called FILE that gives us what we need but it takes far too long to keep on adding lots of files. Your FILES blocks would be awesome so that people can just add the file to the category and it appears on the page automatically. WOW. A great way to maintain/update files on a page. Hope you'd consider making this available asap. Amazing plugin- well done!
- September 10, 2020And sort them: acs, desc, Name, size, Date :)!
- August 17, 2020and file date/ version (if itis possible to add a version for exp. 1.0.1)
- July 14, 2020Hi everyone, you can call me "A happy user" if you like, I think display list of files in a category will be cool.
- June 25, 2020Would be awesome if it display size of files on this too. And also ability to filter files by size.

- December 29, 2020YES! Glad to see this is up nextโI'm pumped. Thank you!
- October 28, 2020Enable Media Replace plugin is also able to: - replace a file type by another (e.g. PNG > JPG) - update the file name in the DB, including in serialized data (used in Beaver Builder for instance)
- September 15, 2020I would love this function to be included
- September 12, 2020Yes please, that is a great feature!
- September 10, 2020The replace media function would be a valuable time saver. Looking forward to see it happening ๐
- September 10, 2020This would be great to have this part of HappyFiles, I'd be able to rid myself of this one https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/.
- September 8, 2020include the Replace Media function and you can increase the price still valuable ;)
- August 12, 2020@Thomas replace media means you "swap" an exisitng image file with a newer one. By default in WP, if you have eg an image "my-image.jpg" and some time later you get/have an updated version and you upload that one into WP, then WP change it into "my-image-1.jpg" automatically and keep both versions. Usually the purpose is to change an image while not having to mess with delete old file, upload new file, edit the post/product/page/... everywhere that image is used and select the new one. Instead, you just go to media library select the "old" one, click replace, select the new one and it's done. All "instances" where the old image was used has now been replaced with the new one without having to edit X locations. Hope this clear up the purpose ;)
- July 2, 2020I also +1. What is meant is to emulate the functionality of this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/ It's a real time saver when one needs to update a pdf, or image
- June 1, 2020Take a look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/ It allows you to replace a media file in your library while keeping the same slug to not break the link to the pages that the current one is used on
- May 25, 2020Lots of upvotes for this idea, already :) I am just not really sure what the "Replace Media" button would do exactly? Can someone shed some light on how it's supposed to work?

Colour coded folders
It would be nice to have colour coded folders, so folders have a coloured stripe on the left and images would have a colour dot, so I can quickly identify the folder even when viewing "All Categories".Leave a comment:

- September 11, 2020Thomas, I think replace media means you can replace an image across your site without having to update your website content. Means this feature replace an image with the exact same name for all screen sizes and other occurances.
- May 29, 2020Good idea.

Dynamic Folders
Similar to what Wicked Folders can do: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wicked-folders/ But with more power! It would be great if we could create dynamic folders based on: 1. The post type the attachment is attached to 2. Upload date 3. A custom field value (for power users)Leave a comment:

- December 11, 2020Yes, that would be great. Have your images and files auto sorted!
- December 1, 2020For a collaborative photography web site, be able to automatically organize uploaded photos into automatic folders created using the IPTC Author name/Copyright Field.
- September 13, 2020For a long time I have been looking for a way to automatically sort media by the post/page they are associated with... so that option would be very useful.
- August 31, 2020A count of media items which are actually used in posts (and those unused items also)
- August 27, 2020Create a dynamic folder that collects photos uploaded by a particular author or collect photos based on an article category.
- June 6, 2020The ability to create dynamic folders for media types such as pdf, svg, etc would be a nice to have feature.
- June 6, 2020It'd also be useful if we could create dynamic folders based off the taxonomy of pages and custom post types. Dynamic folder creation based on the content or value of custom fields would be a handy power feature, as well.
- May 24, 2020I'll add media size as a dynamic folder. For example, sometimes I'm searching for the perfect hero image and only want to see photos that are over 1800 pixels wide.

Rename Files (individual and in bulk)
Available in media library list view.Leave a comment:
5 Comments:
- December 6, 2020I totally agree with A Happy User: "Would be great if this includes an option to "auto" rename based on the file title. So eg I call an attachment "Beautiful temple in India" but the filename is DC2379273982.jpg, then auto rename makes it something like "beatiful-temple-in-india.jpg" which is much better in terms of SEO."
- October 6, 2020This would be very helpful if it could rename the files to the Alt Text. For example, the Brizy Page Builder's sync function renames all the media files, even the fonts, to a generic name. Not good for SEO.
- September 15, 2020This would be a great function to include.
- August 28, 2020This would be awesome and such a time saver.

Ability To Sort Categories, Taxonomies, Pages, Posts, Custom Post Types etc.
I love your plugin! Thumbs up! It would be awesome to have the ability to sort categories, taxonomies, pages, posts, custom post types via dragn drop. For example: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/ But it would be enough to dragn drop the items in the overview. I thought it is already possible but it isn't. it is only possible to drag the pages into the folders. And not change the order via dragn drop :). Have a great week!Leave a comment:

Sort/Order Files Too
Right now we have the option to sort the categories ascending or descending. It would be nice to have such an option for the files. View Folder & All its Subfolder Images
One thing that seems to be missing is the ability to see all files from a folder and its subfolders, by clicking the main parent folder. I know I can add images to multiple categories, but it would be faster/more user friendly to also have an option to view all files in the current folder + all subfolders.Leave a comment:
2 Comments:
- September 16, 2020You could build in a inherit option. That when clicked on all subfolders (kid folder) files will be shown in parent folders.
- September 12, 2020As i remember this function was there before the the last bigger update as the behavior to open a folder changed. Honestly i struggle every time now where my pictures are, clicking on a folder with subfolders. I found the older way more intuitive and i agree to have the option the show images of subfolders or not.

- November 24, 2020And please add manual sorting order (very useful for the Gallery)
- November 11, 2020As far as I saw almost all of these options should be available in list view (standard wordpress feature). But I agree: File size would be a nice addition. Also, to make these available in grid view. And to be able to omit certain columns, e.g. "uploaded to".
- September 28, 2020Also by filename.

More Useful List view
Default WP list view could be better. Having details view instead of thumbnails would be great also, use cases: Not having image files, for example 25 PDF's or so. Having different varioations from one image, differences will not be visible in thumbnail, but would be easily visible in list view. Lots easier to navigate. Make it easier to remove media/page/post from a folder
Right now, it seems the only way to remove media/pages/posts from a folder is to drag them into the uncategorized folder. While this isn't terrible, it creates more work if you have more than one folder associated with the asset. Then you have to drag them back into those other folders. The more folders associated, the more the work. Kinda like throwing out the baby with the bath water. Being able to select the asset and drag it OUT of the folder would be nice. Having a quick edit feature in there too wouldn't hurt. -PHLeave a comment:

Assign Categories When Editing a File/Post/Page
Allow for adjusting of folders for media/posts/pages in the actual editor itself so that you can choose multiple folders to cross-list an asset in. One-Click Importer, New Folder UI, Create Multiple Categories
HappyFiles 1.3 focuses on saving you even more time and improve your media organizing workflow. You can now import folders created with other media folder plugins and delete their plugin data afterwards, all with one click. The importer works for the following plugins:
- FileBird (v4)
- Enhanced Media Library
- Folders (by Premio)
- Wicked Folders
- Real Media Library
When HappyFiles detects folder data created by one of the plugins above, you will see a notification in your WordPress dashboard. The importer is located under the “Import” tab on your HappyFiles settings page.
If you have enabled “Assign multiple categories” you can now also enable the new “Enable to remove an item from all categories ” setting. This way when you uncategorize an item that has been assign to other categories it will automatically be uncategorized from all those folders.
There is a new “Delete Plugin Data” button on the HappyFiles settings page, that allows you to delete all data stored by HappyFiles.
We’ve gotten rid of the arrow icon for folders that contain sub folders. Folders with sub folders now have an icon with “+” indicator next to it. You can toggle sub categories by clicking on it.
You can now create multiple categories at once, simply by comma separating your new category names.
The folder previously collapsed when creating/deleting categories. It now stays in place.
There is also no more page reload trigger when sorting your categories alphabetically.
In terms of fixes the HappyFiles sidebar should now be clickable again when using it inside a media modal. Shortcode parameter are all working now for the happyfiles_gallery shortcode.

Create Galleries from HappyFiles Folders
This update brings an exciting new feature. You can now create beautiful and highly customisable galleries from your HappyFiles folders. Either via the [happyfiles_gallery categories="Cat 1, Cat2"] shortcode or by using the “HappyFiles Gallery” Gutenberg block as shown here:
The [happyfiles_gallery] shortcode has the following parameters:
- categories: comma separated list of category names, slugs, or IDs (recommended to use IDs as they don’t change)
- max: Specify the max. number of images you want to show (default: shows all images)
- columns: Number of columns of your gallery (1 – 6)
- orderBy: date (default), none, ID, author, name, title, type, modified, rand
- order: ASC (ascending), DESC (descending)
- imageSize: thumbnail, medium, large, full
- linkTo: attachment, media, none (default)
-
includeChildren: Set to true to show images of sub categories
- crop: Set to true to crop your images (true by default)
- caption: Set to true to show image caption (false by default)
HappyFiles’ translation into German has also been approved, finally. Kudos to Simon Kraft ๐

Sort Alphabetically, Better Category Inspector & Various Fixes
Many of you have asked for alphabetical sorting. With this version you can finally auto-sort all your categories alphabetically (ascending and descending) by clicking the new three-dots icon next to the “Categories” title in the HappyFiles sidebar.
The category inspector has been added to the list view (just right-click on any files/post, page, etc. to view all assigned categories). It nows also shows the category hierarchy for better inspection. If an item has no category then “Uncategorized” is shown, which is helpful when viewing “All Categories”.
Your stored license key under Settings > HappyFiles is now hidden, so its safe to add to your client’s site without having to share your license key.
A new setting named Disable AJAX (List View) is available. When set the AJAX-like results refresh in the media library’s list view is disabled. If you are using any plugin alongside HappyFiles that alters the media library’s output, such as Imagify, you might want to try enabling this setting, in case you are experience any issues.

Categorize Posts & Pages, One-Click Plugin Updates
With this update to version 1.0 we official leave the beta stage. Let’s start with two highly requested additions for HappyFiles PRO.
Categorization for posts and pages: PRO users can now categorize posts, pages, custom post types, WooCommerce products, orders, and coupons. You can select the post types you want to enable categorization for under: Settings > HappyFiles > Post Types (PRO). Enjoy!
One-Click plugin updates: Up until now PRO users had to log in to their HappyFiles account to download the latest version. Once you have downloaded version 1.0 you will receive download notifications whenever there is a new HappyFiles PRO update available right in your WordPress dashboard, and update with a click on “Update now”. Same process as with any other WordPress plugin.

Multiple Categories & Category Inspector
It’s been only 10 days since the last release, but you asked for this, so here goes:
You can now assign multiple categories to a file. This feature is disabled by default. Allowing you to only assign one category to a file. To enable multiple categories go to “Settings > HappyFiles” and select the “Assign multiple categories” option.
Forgot which categories a file is in? Up until now you had to manually open each category to figure this out.
This release introduces the category inspector. Simply right-click on any file to see all the categories it is assigned to. Click on any of its categories in the custom menu to directly browse into it. Another great little time saver ๐

Initial Release
I am super excited to announce the official release of HappyFiles. A WordPress plugin that helps you organise your entire media library files into categories via simple drag & drop.
The free version of HappyFiles allows you to create up to 10 categories and is available for download via https://wordpress.org/plugins/happyfiles/. If you need unlimited categories and usage on all your sites feel free to grab the lifetime deal for HappyFiles Pro.
HappyFiles excels in performance and a great and minimal UI/UX. More exciting features are added as time goes on and users submit ideas.
Assets are only loaded on the relevant screens in the admin area and when editing a page with a page builder like Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, etc.
HappyFiles categories a simple custom taxonomy terms. Your files and file paths are not altered in any way.
You can directly upload new files to a specific category, and resize/toggle the category sidebar to your liking.
In the admin area under “Settings > HappyFiles” you choose select which user role can manage media categories (Category Editing).
I hope you enjoy this first release!
